OFSAA Cross Country Championships 2005

November 5, 2005 (Kingston, ON)

While there were no team or individual medals, Lambton athletes generally performed well at the 2005 OFSAA cross country championships.
In the Senior Girls Division, Northern's team placed 10th. Scoring for the Vikings were Marie-Louise Asselin (11th), Kara Wark (55th), Devin Huggett (112th) and Lindsay Postil (132nd). Mackenzie Walker (176th) was a non-scorer on this team. St. Christopher placed 23rd in this division with Laura Gill (52nd), Carly Gill (62nd), Amanda Ayres (203rd) and Kandice VanAert (224th) scoring for the Cyclones. St. Clair's Courtney Workman finished 38th and St. Pat's Keegan Castrillo finished 40th as individuals in the Senior Girls race. 241 individuals and 38 teams competed in this division.
In the Senior Boys Division, a young Northern team finished 11th. Scoring for the Vikings were Cory McCurry (71st), Andrew Douglas (78th), Paul Cochrane (93rd) and Larry Abbott (126th). Tim Sneider (130th) was a non-scorer for Northern.
David Moore of St. Christopher ran his best race of the year to finish 12th as an individual. There were 239 individuals and 38 teams in this division.
In the Junior Girls Division, Val Christie of Lambton Central ran an excellent race to finish 4th and lead her Lancer team mates to a 16th place finish. Other Lancer scorers were Virgie VanDencorput (103rd), Janelle Christopher (146th) and Steph Milner (215th).
Haley Cadwallader of SCITS finished 65th as an individual competitor. There were 236 individuals and 38 teams competing in this division.
In the Junior Boys Division, Jack Evers of St. Christopher finished 55th of 236 competitors.
In the Midget Girls Division, St. Clair finished 17th. Scoring for the Colts were Courtney Lundy (17th), Jamie Holmes (105th), Robyn Brazeau (113th) and Jessica Solomon (163rd). Cassie Brown (172nd) was a non-score for this team.
Northern's Erin M'Larkey (24th) and St. Christopher's Rachel Korosec (28th) ran well as individual in this division. There were 227 individuals and 37 teams competing.
In the Midget Boys Division, the St. Christopher team finished 6th for the best finish by a Lambton team. Scoring for the Cyclones were Aaron Yurkewich (38th), Matt Morden (72nd), Alex Latosinksy (93rd) and Andrew Thompson (124th). St. Clair's Shawn Bisson ran well in this division to finish 18th. There were 235 individuals and 37 teams competing in this division.

In Midget Girls Kristin Kohlmeier placed 30th in the 3km event with a time of 14:21.60.
Our Junior Girls team ran a hard raced and placed third overall in team standings missing an OFSAA qualification by only 19 points. Individual results were as follows:

In the Senior Girls race Keegan Castrillo placed 4th out of 84 runners with a time of 19:17.70 qualifying her for 2005 OFSAA championships. Congratulations Keegan!
In the Midget Boys division, the St. Patrick's team fought hard and placed 14th. Individual results were as follows:

Congratulations Keegan Castrillo who finished 52nd as an individual runner. There were 38 teams and 246 runners in the junior girls division.
Other St. Clair County Results:
Northern’s Senior Girls Cross Country team ran their best team race of the year to finish second at the OFSAA cross country championships. Scoring for the Vikings were Marie-Louise Asselin (9th), Claire Percival (39th), Kara Wark (55th), and Jamie Sivell (68th). Bronwyn Douglas (160th) was the non-scorer. St. Christopher was fifth in the race with Lydia Willemse (12th), Candace Crombeen (41st), Laura Gill (49th) and Jaclyn Doyle (149th) scoring for the Cyclones. Carly Gill was unable to complete the course because of illness. 41 teams and 243 runners competed in the division.
St. Clair Senior Boys were 25th in that division. Scoring for the Colts were Mike Percival (127th), Josh DeGroot (143rd), Mike Poaps (164th) and Graham Beatty (165th). David Moore of St. Christopher was unable to compete due to injury. 39 teams and 244 individuals competed in the senior boys division.
Lambton Central Junior Girls finished tenth with Alicia Phillips (62nd), Alicia Barnes (79th), Vanessa Vanerp (116th) and Jordan Smith (148th) scoring for the Lancers. Karly Campbell (201st) was the non-scorer. Northern was 24th in the same division with Katie Sivell (24th), Lindsay Postil (69th), Emily King (210th) and Christie Kohut (226th) scoring for the Vikings. MacKenzie Walker (227th) was the non-scorer. In the junior boys division, Cason King of St. Christopher finished 59th and Cory McCurry of Northern finished 73rd out of 244 runners.
Lambton Central Midget Girls finished tenth with Val Christie (12th), Virgie Vandenkorput (32nd), Jenelle Christopher (147th), and Jillian McMurphy (168th) scoring for the Lancers. Rachel Racher (221st) was the non-scorer. Gina Pacheco (61st) from St. Christopher and Haley Cadwallader (99th) from SCITS competed as individuals. There were 38 teams and 244 runners in the midget girls division.
In the midget boys division, Michael Butler of St. Christopher finished 40th out of 247 runners.
